Dundas charts RRS feed

  • Question

  • I just upgraded from SQL 2005 to SQL 2008 R2\Reporting Server to have SCCM Power Managemnet.  But looking at the reports I get an error "The Dundas Chart for Reporting Services report item is unavailable."

I looked online and I see that we need to run RSChatsInstaller.exe fro the Bin folder but I cannot find it anywhere.  How to I manually install these charts and if that not the issue why can't these charts work?

    Thanks

  • No, Dundas Charts are not a part of Reporting Services.  Microsoft acquired intellectual property from Dundas a couple of years back and as a result, we have added new chart types, guages, and maps to Reporting Services as native Reporting Services report items.  In many places we added functionality and in other places we removed functionality but these are Reporting Services charts and not Dundas charts.

Dundas, until very recently, was selling custom report item add-ons that you can use in your reports.  Judging by the message you are seeing, I think this is what the SCCM product is using.  Those are not native Reporting Services charts, they are an add-in and it's up to Dundas and the product in question (in this case, SCCM) to support their usage.  We do support the interfaces that all of these custom report items use.

  • Can you please post this question on the SCCM forum?  The reporting services team does not ship this particular product.  The SCCM team will be better equipped to answer.

  • Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager now users SSRS for their reports so it should use the built-in charts they comes with SQL 2008 R2.  But it not working.  Is there anything I can do to get this built-in charts in SQL to work.  It is a clean install and not an upgrade from SQL 2005.
