  • Question

  • In my source database I have transactions of several types. Such as Cash, Billing, Expences, etc ...

What is a right approach - to make columns for each type of transaction in my relational Data Warehouse (to implement this logic using SSIS ) or to make a single Amount column with FK to TransactionType dimension table (to implement this logic using Calculated Members like (Measures.Amount, TransactionType.<<MyTransactionType>>) )? At first glance implementing such division in relational datasource should speed up my mdx queries. Is there any other impact of such approach?
