Peoplepicker "no results were found match your search item"... RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've done a clean installation of of sharepoint and restored just the web application on port 80.  On our central admin site under site permission and adding new users into "Farm Administrators" or Delegrated Administrators I can find the users and add them to permission perfectly fine.

But in our web application or any subsite on port 80, when I try to add a user under site permission or on subsites I get "No results were found to match your search item. Please enter a new term or less specific term."  So i ran the command

    STSADM.exe -o setapppassword -password key

    STSADM.exe -o setproperty-propertyname peoplepicker-searchadforests -propertyvalue <Valid list of forests or domains> -url <URL of the Web application>

where <Valid list of forests or domains> might look like this:

    "domain:mydomain.com,mydomain\myuser,mypassword"

and i still get no result

  •  Hello Joecepy

    STSADM.exe -o setapppassword -password key

STSADM.exe -o setproperty-propertyname peoplepicker-searchadforests -propertyvalue <Valid list of forests or domains> -url <URL of the Web application> is not very much valid if you are not in the cross domain senario .

there could be number of reasons why you might not be able to pull the users using people-picker .

lets go ahead and reset people-picker property first .

then go to  diagnostic logging in central admin and enable verbose for General and Topology .

tried searching for the user again so that it can capture the trace , Go back to ULS log and find the "Username"

just below that you should be able to see what the reason behind not able to pull the users using people picker .

    Cheers

  • Have you set up a Content Source in your search configuration to specifically crawl for people?
