  • Question

  • Hello,

unfortunatly i have no datamart that is based on dim/fact tables. What i have are 2 big tables where everything is included: date, time, shop, which customer bought which product, ...

To build up a cube i have to create the dim and fact tables in a process step - is this right or are there any things i haven't thought so far?

The other thing is: Is there any problem in hosting 30 (Dimensions: 200x1000x1000) cubes on one server with a very few usage (just 3 user and they will browse the cube just 1-2 times a week)?

    Thx for any help,

    Regards

  • Hi,

You are right that you have to build dimensions from your big tables along with the facts.  In terms of hosting 30 cubes, it depends on your hardware and cube size.  64-bit machine may be required.   If user doesn't browse the cube very often, you may start with a 32-bit machine and monitor the performance to see if it works ok, then decide if you need to scale up.
