SSDT in Visual Studio 2015 error Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.16.0 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I cannot import or export to excel 2016 from SSIS or SSMS using the 64 bit export.  Tried the 2016 Access installer which failed.

I want to work exclusively in 64bit mode but I believe that Visual Studio is 32 bit.  SSMS is 64bit, as well as SQL Server 2016 developer is 64 bit.

Looking for help to remedy the situation.

  • Hello,

SSDT and SSMS are both plugins for Visual Studio and VS is only available as 32 bit application; therefore SSDT and SSMS are also both 32 bit application and 32 bit apps can only utilize 32 bit data provider.

You can deploy your SSIS package to SSIS server, then the package can run in 64 bit mode, but not within developing tool SSDT.

You can also start the 64 bit version of Import/Export Wizard from start menu or directly from
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\130\DTS\Binn\DTSWizard.exe
