Why is the option "Developer Tools and SDK" always grayed in Microsoft BizTalk Server 2016 Installation Wizard? RRS feed

  • Question

  • When trying to install Microsoft BizTalk Server 2016 on my computer, I also wanted to activate the option "Developer Tools and SDK", but somehow the option is always grayed. (see the screenshot file https://onedrive.live.com/?id=20F5837EC1E965B0%21120&cid=20F5837EC1E965B0).

Can anybody help me to resolve the issue?

The software versions on my computer are listed below:

    1) Windows 10 Pro

    2) SQL Server 14.0.2027

    3) Microsoft Visual Studio Community 2017 Version 15.9.7

    Thanks for help.

  • You have the wrong version of Visual Studio,  you need Visual Studio 2015 and at least Professional, not Community.  Also I would recommend not to use Windows 10, even though it is supposedly supported, lots of people have issues setting up in that. I would recommend Windows Server 2016 or 2012 R2, matching your production environment

Hardware and Software Requirements for BizTalk Server 2016

Microsoft Visual Studio Visual Studio 2015 Optional.

Provides a development environment for building BizTalk Server applications. Ultimate Edition is recommended, but Premium and Professional are also supported. Required for BizTalk Server Developer Tools and SDK.
