Cannot open TDS file in BIDS 2008 SP2!

    Question

  • I installed SQL 2008 Standard edition on my computer Windows7 Ultimate 64-bit. The installation went fine and I am able to use my SSMS to execute SQL scripts.

However, when I try to open a TDS file in BIDS, I get the following error message:

Microsoft Visual Studio is unable to load this document:
To design Integration Services package in Businesss Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS), BIDS has to be installed by one of these editions of SQL Server 2008: Standard, Enterprise, Developer, or Evaluation. To install BIDS, run SQL Server Setup and select Buisness Intelligence Development Studio.

Per Microsoft's recommendation, I installed SP2 but it did not help. Could you provide your help on this?

    Thank you,

  • What is a TDS file?

Might be refering to DTS file and ended up typing TDS : )  Not sure though. Fawad, can you check if the "Business Intelligence Projects" is available under Project types in Visual Studio?
