    Can anyone let me know what is the difference between SQL nodes and SQL Instances ?

  • I have seen some cases where few app servers are using 1 db server and 2 instances. What does that means
    Its not one DB server its only Server and people generalize it as DB server because database is installed on it. On single windows machine or server you can install multiple instances of SQL Server. In that case many people may call it multiple sql server instances on DB server.

    There is nothing called as SQL Nodes, its basically a node in WSFC on which SQL Server is installed and people call it "SQL Node" just because SQL Server is installed. OTOH SQL Server instance is unique installation of SQL Server on windows machine. You can have one default instance many named instances or SQL Server. Got it ?
