Creating aggregations in SSAS 2005

    Question

  • Hi.

I'm beginning to use the SSAS aggregations. I have created the aggregations for a cube after I have specified the estimated count and I have saved them without deploy them. Is it possible to see the aggregations without the deploy?

Any helps to me, please? Thanks

  • No. You need to basically process the cube and this actions deploys the cube to the analysis server.

  • Hi pscorca,

If you mean inspecting the aggregations without deploying them, you could try using BIDS Helper, which shows you what attributes are included, etc. It's free and you can download it from codeplex.

  • Ok Boyan and Darren, I have installed the BIDS Helper, I have selected my cube and I have selected Edit Aggregations, but I cannot see any aggregations. Do I before create the aggregations with the related feature in BIDS? Is it possible to create some aggregations based on a one-two MDX queries on the cube? I want to create specific aggregations and I don't want to use the wizard to create authomatic aggregations.

    Many thanks

  • I am still unable to think how BIDSHelper could allow you to work on aggregations without having to deploy it....

Do I before create the aggregations with the related feature in BIDS?

If yes, then is it not as good as deploying it.....
