we have an application in vb6. this application attaches various user db's (mdf and ldf files) on start
and detach them on shutdown.
in sql 2000 we never had problems. but now, testing and making our application rdy for sql 2005 we realised that on every attach sql 2005 sets or changes the file permissions on our db files. after that only sql server and local admins have rights to copy or move this files.
is there any way to prevent sql server for changing permission on files ?
thanks a lot
problem is, that our users are working permanently with different files (db files) .
they are attaching , working on the db, detaching, moving the db files to the network domain ...
another user copy this files to his local system, attach them , works with them, ...
is they aren't admin they cannot work with this files anymore.
(and a normal network admin won't give all users admin rights)
