SQL Server Upgrade RRS feed

  • Hi All,

    currently our SQL Server version is SQL 2005. Now we are planning to upgrade(Out of Place) to SQL 2012 SP2. Please let me know the steps to be followed.  Please share Any dox or web links related to this upgrade. Also our current version is on 32 bit and we have to upgrade to 64 bit. do we need to take any additional care? Please update.

    You are doing side by side migration hence the steps remains same. There won't be any issues.The data and log files doesn't store the architectural components information. It's same on 32 or 64 bit.

  • Install and Run SQL 2012 Upgrade Advisor on SQL 2005 . Upgrade Advisor will report you the changes or deprecated features  which requires special attention to address problem before/after the upgrade.

    Check the supported version and edition upgrade
