Trying to create a table..

    Question

    • I am not sure I am in the right place to ask this question. If not please forgive me and direct me to the proper place. I am trying to create a table in a MS SQL Server database on Azure from the SQL Server  Management Studio. This is my 1st time using Management Studio. My work in the past has been with PostgreSQL. I am sure that the answer is simple but I cannot see it. I have created a schema adherence which executed with no errors. I have simplified my create script to the following.. CREATE EXTERNAL TABLE adherence.users (name varchar(255)) I get the following "Msg 102 ... Improper syntax near ')'

  • Not quite the answer but it helped. I did have to take the EXTERNAL out. BUT also had to click on the TABLES menu entry on the menu along the left hand side..

  • I think if you just say CREATE TABLE [table_name],  it should work.
    (without the word EXTERNAL)

    Create table syntax reference:
    CREATE TABLE (Transact-SQL)

    Hope that helps,

  • Try something like this:

    create schema adherence;
    create table adherence.users (name varchar(255));
