Is hash key mandatory for SCD Type 2 Dims RRS feed

  • Hi All,

    recently we had a need to create SCDT2, i looked up many ways and i wanted to follow the process of merge, but some sites i came across are emphasizing  on Hash Keys using SSIS , can someone please advice?

    As far as I know, the hash key is not necessary for SCD2 type. 

    You should be able to load a SCD2 table with SSIS no problem.

    Hash keys is not mandatory but an easier way to do comparisons in SCD 2. It doesnt require comparing multiple individual columns for SCD 2 processing and makes it easier to do key based comparisons without much risk of collisions
