HTML Table as data source

I have a client, who has data feeds as HMTL, we need to import this data to SQL Server 2008. I'm trying to figure out what is the best way to use SSIS to perform this task.

  • There isn't an out of the box component to do this, so I would suggest one of the following:

    1. Use a script task to parse the file and pull the data into a datatable/dataset. You can set this result to the SSIS package variable Object type

Parse the HTML table into XML and then you can use the XML Source object: You could obviously do a similar operation and parse it into a CSV, either way.

    2. If you chose the Script task option, then your datasource will be a the ADO.NET datasource (setting its source to the Object that is the output of the script task). Or if you chose to parse the file into XML or a CSV, then your source will be a flat file of type xml or csv.

    Hope that gets you started.
