Problems Installing the Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio 2008 R2 Express Edition (Offline installation)

Question

I downloaded the Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio 2008 R2 Express Edition (Offline installation)
and was about to install it when it complained that I didn't have the following installed:

- XNA 2.0 Framework,
- NVIDIA PhysX Game System, and
- Microsoft CCR and DSS Runtime 2008 R2.

I was able to find and download the first two, but I cant still find the last one.
I would appreciate any pointers as to where I can find it or what I am missing out.

The installer package should install this three packages. Check if you have a "Next" button when you have the "complain" message.

It's not supposed to be a "complain" message, but an informational message that tells you what is going to be installed :-)

I appreciate your taking time to help me out but I did click on the "Next" button and it did not install the missing packages.

Instead, I get a message saying: "The files for installation requirement Microsoft CCR ... could not be found ..." and the installer quits after pressing "OK".

I have been able to download and install the first two of the requirements as noted earlier so I don't receive any messages about them.

I run Windows 7 RC Build 7100, have VS2008 SP1, .NET 3.5 and VS2010 Beta, .NET 4.0 installed: any compatibility issues with these?

I would really appreciate any other suggestions.

I haven't tried the express edition, but the standard edition worked fine for me (at least I think it did).

You might have had a bad download.  I might suggest that you try downloading again, then uninstalling the R2 edition from "Add or Remove Programs" from the system Control Panel.  In my standard installation I had to uninstall two things:

Microsoft CCR and DSS Runtime 2008 R2
and
Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio 2008 R2

I don't know if this would be the same in your case since you are using the express edition.

After you have uninstalled the old one, try reinstalling your fresh download.

Hi,

I've got the same problem when I try to install Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio 2008 R2 Express Edition. It doesn't matter if use the online or the offline installer. Isn't there any solution for this problem? I really want to use it :(

I might suggest that you try downloading again, then uninstalling the R2 edition from "Add or Remove Programs" from the system Control Panel.

It never gets installed...

I am having the same problem.  I go to: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=f9d8ddca-ab60-4c62-9770-2aaa87dfd01e and click either the online or offline version.  When I click on the file I get a message box which says:

MS Robotics Developer Studio 2008 R2 Express Edition requires that the following requirements be installed on your computer prior to installing this application. Click Install to begin installing requirements:

Pending: Microsoft CCR and DSS Runtime 2008 R2.

When I click next it says installing and then about 10 seconds later it says:

The files for installation requirement Microsoft CCR and DSS Runtime 2008 R2 could not be found.  The installation will now stop.  This is probably due to a failed or cancelled download.

Are you logged in as an Administrator on your PC?

Are you sure that the download completed successfully? Check the file size.

hi, i've the same problem.

but in my case it starts at the visual c++ sp1 package.

i downloaded and tried both, the online and the offline version (i downloaded it multiple times to be sure that the files aren't broken! and the file sizes were always correct), but when the setup is pending (trying installing  the visual c++ package) the error message appears and setup stops.

i have administrator rights, i even downloaded and installed the visual c++ sp1 package separately, but nothing works.

my sytem is a laptop with vista home x86. visual c++ 2008 express is installed (i already tried removing it and then installing MRDS but didn't work)...

surprisingly this is the only thread i found dealing with this problem and it is quite short. maybe there is a simple solution that is overlooked very easily (i hope so ^^).

any ideas?

 

edit:

finally i made some progress. downloading the needed files and installing them separately works, but only if the packages are EXACTLY the version posted in the installation message box. i guess that causes the problem, that the "physx system software" still isn't recognized and i can't find and download the "css and dss runtimes" to install them separately. now i am stuck at that point, even with the offline installation..

edit:

found an older "physx system software" version. now there are just the "ccr and dss runtimes" left. does anyone of you know a program that contains these runtimes? i didn't find any...

The CCR and DSS Runtime is included in the RDS package and it is not available as a separate download. It should be installed automatically when you install RDS, unless RDS thinks that it is already installed. Check in Control Panel Add/Remove Programs to see if CCR and DSS are there already. Maybe you need to remove the runtime and let RDS reinstall it.

Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio 2008 R3 is out and is free.

It should fix the problems.

Guys I'm having the same problem with R3. It will not install. 

 

I get the same issue with the package not being able to install CCR and DSS Runtime 2008 R3.

 

All previous versions have been removed.

We never got a complete resolution of the previous problem. The CCR & DSS runtime does not depend on much, so I don't see why it will not install. Can you please look in Control Panel and see if it is already installed? You must be logged in as an administrator and don't try to install to a path that contains non-English characters.

i know that questions are very old, but now i'm having the same problems! how do you solve that problems?

Please, i need to install MRDS 4 , and i can't!!! i'm totally crazy! i don't know what can i do! because:

- I installed NVIDIA PhysX System but the computer ignore it! it tells me that is not installed.

- I don't have CCR and DSS Runtime anywhere in the computer....

Please, help me!!
