sqlcmd in Sql Server Management Studio for SQL Server 2012 RRS feed

  • Question

  • SQLCMD works from Command Line prompt. The SQL Server version is: 11.0.2218 (SQL Server 2012 Express)

It seems to have a problem in SQL Server Management Studio. There is a red exclamation mark on it, choosing it from the drop-down list does not enable this. Using Tools menu is of no avail.

    sqlcmd mode

Open new query windows, copy the below SQL and select the SQLCMD Mode and execute.

    SELECT @@VERSION As 'Server Version'
