Overriding Design Time Configurations With Command Line Parameter RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm using SQL Server Integration Services 2012. I have a package with one Connection Manager. The ConnectionString for that manager is set to some design time value. I'm executing the package from the SQL Server Agent Job and passing the /CONNECTION parameter to set a production ConnectionString for the manager.

The problem is that it seems that the SSIS is overriding my command line value with the design time value. I found this article about configurations which suggests that this is by design.

I'm not sure that I understand how this should be used? How can I set the ConnectionString to the Connection Manager during run-time?

  • That option works for the Configuration connections, not Connection Managers.

Use a Configuration (perhaps a XML file based one should suffice in your case) to apply a different connection string at runtime.
