Unzip selective files over network shared drive using SSIS - I need a faster way to do it. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I developed a package that uses execute process task for unzipping selective files based on their names. The SSIS package runs 6 different ForEach Loop Containers for each Type of Name and they run simultaneously. Each foreach loop has its own execute process task that will do the unzipping. The Executable is 7z.exe. The filetype is gzip or .gz file. My process sometimes takes 20 minutes to unzip 24 files around 8:30 AM or it took 50 minutes this morning around 4:45 AM. The file size is not too big, some of them are 24 mb, some are 33 mb, some are very small. Is there a faster way to unzip? Another thing when unzip the same files over on my local drive. It unzipped in few seconds. So please help me unzip faster. I am open to multiple solutions.

  • Copy the zip package locally. Then unzip from there. Report back the result.

  • Hi super_vdawg,

Please check the package execution results to see which process takes much time.

We could also use Script Task to unzip files. Please refer to Unzip Files With SSIS .

    Best Regards,
