Error with CryptKey and Timer after installing OLAP RRS feed

  • Question

  • I get the following two errors after instaling SQL Server 2008 and OLAP

    (1) The file '\\?\D:\Microsoft SQL Server\MSAS10.MSSQLSERVER\OLAP\Data\CryptKey.bin' could not be opened

    (2) Failed to initialize SQLSQM timer.

    Full details given below.

Anybody know how to solve them ?

  • Can you check cryptkey has full control on the user acounts you are using for olap.? and try again...

    D:\Microsoft SQL Server\MSAS10.MSSQLSERVER\OLAP\Data\CryptKey.bin.

You might be facing the same problem with the timer, incremental updates also when you apply proactive caching comparing a datetime field etc..

You can check the same issue which i have raised for the timer issue.(logs included)

Hope some one can test this on..

  • I'm also having these timer errors with the latest Nov CTP.

(12/26/2009 10:03:10 PM) Message: Failed to initialize SQLSQM timer. I haven't been able to get the Analysis Services from any version of SQL Server 2008 to startup.  I'm am up-to-date on all Windows patches.  I tried to make this as generic an install as possible.  I assume this worked on someone's computer before it was released.  What else can I try?

    D:\Microsoft SQL Server\MSAS10.MSSQLSERVER\OLAP\Data\CryptKey.bin.

And how to check this (that cryptkey has full control on the user accounts)?
    Might be on service account?
