Inherited controls cannot be used at design time in Visual Studio 2008 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

this is curious but I have problems when I am using inherited controls in my project.

I have created a ListViewEx class inherited from ListView.

I have only set it to show grid lines. That is why I inherit this.

Then, I compile the project and I saw the control in the toolbox. I have dragged and dropped to a form and when the control was placed, this text appears centered in the control: Namespace.ListViewEx.

After that, if I try to add columns and items using the properties window of the control, it does not work (columns ans items are not actually added). So, I have to add them programmatically.

I have thought that it was some problem with my control.

Now I have downloaded OpenNetCF libraries and for my surprise, the same happen!!! for example, when I drag and drop ComboBox2 control to a form, the "OpenNETCF.Windows.Forms,ComboBox2" text appears centered vertically and horizontally, not allowing me to do anything using the designer.

What is going on with this? is there a solution?
