SSMS does not take the Entered password while running as a Different user RRS feed

  • Question

  • We need to run SSMS with our Elevated accounts. but, the password keeps changing every 24 hours.

So, if run SSMS with the latest password now and close it after using today.

I cannot run SSMS with the new password tomorrow unless I restart my machine.

SSMS is probably taking the older password, even though i enter correct password while starting a new instance of SSMS

I wanted to know is there anything we need to do get this working without having to restart the machine

  • Try to stop and restart services from back end then, enter new password.

That's quite normal and has absolutely nothing with SSMS or SQL Server to do, that's how Windows authentication works.

On logon you get a token and when you change password during runtime without re-login, then your token is valid for local actions, but not to authenticate against remote server.
