  •  I am having this error message appear when I call a wfc service. I am sure that the service works perfectly because I used a test application and it worked perfectly. However, when I run it in my current project I get the following exception:

    "An error occurred while trying to make a request to URI 'http://sc068220-2.cs.********.net/webservice/UserService.svc'. This could be due to a cross domain configuration error. Please see the inner exception for more details."

     This exception appears in the following block in reference.cs file:

    public System.Collections.ObjectModel.ObservableCollection EndGetUsers(System.IAsyncResult result) {
                    object[] _args = new object[0];
                    System.Collections.ObjectModel.ObservableCollection _result = ((System.Collections.ObjectModel.ObservableCollection)(base.EndInvoke("GetUsers", _args, result)));
                    return _result;

    I have no idea what's causing this error, any ideas?

  • Nikhil Kothari's web development helper tool can help troubleshoot things like this easily:

    Also check out Tim Heuer's webcast for good troubleshooting tips:

  •  It's not a client policy or cross domain issue because I created a test project using the same service and it worked fine! And I also used WcfTestClient and it worked.. I checked the http sniffer and everything is coming back from the webservice okay... However, this error keeps occuring..

  • maybe you need to update your service reference? Have your web service method signatures changed?

  • I tried that it does not seem to work. If I use a brand new solution everything works fine. My project is too big for me to put it all together in a new solution. I am stuck

  • Hi Tkh1989,

    Do you mean that the result returns correctly but error keeps occuring?   That's weird, would you please create a new test page on your exist project to see whether it works?   By the way, we recommend that you'd better take a look at Bill Reiss's reply.

    Best regards,

    Jonathan
