Working with XEF File RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    I am using HoloLens Research mode to capture video and sensor data (Hand, Spatial Mapping, Etc...). The file containing the sensor data is .XEF format, and I wonder where I can find the documentation / instructions on how to manipulate it through Python and Matlab. I've found this the "KinectXEFTools" repo on {github.com / Isaac-W / KinectXEFTools}

    It's in line with what I intend to do, but still quite limited. I'd like to develop it on my own. I wonder if there might be a simpler solution?

    Thank you!

  • AFAIK, XEF is not open. That repository specifically says it's reverse engineering the format.

    Check angelaHillier/KinectStudio-Sample for more info. I don't think it's possible to do anything apart from recording and parsing/reading the streams, but if there's a way to do so, it's probably in this repo.

    Good luck.
