Using autogenerated primary keys RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have not delved into the Synchronization Framework yet (so please pardon my complete lack of knowledge), but I think it could be very useful down the road for an application I am working on. I am developing my database now and I want to make sure that I am doing things in a way that will make it easy to implement the Syncrhonization Framework in the future. Are there any special things I should take into account in setting up my database (SQL Server 2008).

For example, can I use identify columns (i.e., autonumbered) for primary keys? It seems like this might pose an obstacle to synchronization since a disconnected and enterprise database might assign the same ID to different records record while in a disconnected state.

Are there any other issues I should watch out for?
