  • Hi Edward,

    Welcome to MSDN forum.

To find the root cause of the error code 1603, I need your help to the installation log. Please use http://aka.ms/vscollect to gather the installation logs. After using it, you will find vslogs.zip under %temp% folder. Please upload the file to https://onedrive.live.com/ and share the link here.

I found someone met the similar issue that due to a higher version of the Visual C++ 2010 redistributable already being installed on the computer. Please go to Control Panel—Programs and Features and see if there have the Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable versions or not, then compare the installed version with the version that you tried to install once you found it. If the installed one is higher, please uninstall it then re-run the visual C++ 2010 redistributable that you wanted.

Meanwhile, you need to confirm you already run the installer as administrator and the administrator account have Full Control permission on the folder that you are trying to install the Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable. Open Windows Explorer and right-click the drive that you want to install the Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable and check Properties—Security, verify it. What’s more, please see here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-sg/kb/834484

    Best regards,

    Sara
