Can't use Enigne Aria RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    I tried to create a table with the engine Aria.

    The SQL:

    CREATE TABLE `test1` (
      `id` int(11) NOT NULL
    ) ENGINE=Aria;

    Then I get the error:

    Query 1 ERROR: Can't create table `test`.`test1` (errno: 1 "Operation not permitted")

  • I kind of got the same error while creating MyISAM table on Azure MariaDB instance.

    ERROR 1005 (HY000): Can't create table `<database>`.`<table>` (errno: 1 "Operation not permitted")

    I suppose Azure Mariadb/MySQL instance could only create databases with storage engine InnoDB. Can anybody highlight more on it please.

    Thanks!

  • Yes, Azure Database for Mariadb doesn't support Aria type engine. In order to make it work you can change the storage engine of the existing table to InnoDb or use the newly created table's storage engine as InnoDb.
