Microsoft Silverlight out-of-browser launcher fails when trying to access downloads from BBC Store

    Question

  • I have the latest up-to-date versions of Microsoft Siverlight and BBC Store Download Manager installed. However, whenever I actually go to open a downloaded video from BBC Store, the video will not open and I get an error message in a new window which says that Microsoft Siverlight's out-of-browser launcher has stopped working and that Windows will check for a solution and notify me if there is one and then invites me to close the programm (i.e. BBC Store) without providing a solution. So, what can I do I, as I have paid a lot of money for films etc and now I can't watch any of them?  [I'm using a Lenovo PC with Windows 7 Home Premium installed and, in case anyone suggests doing all the basic checks as part of the 'solution', I can assure them I have already done the lot.]

  • Hi Iffey,

As far as I know, that Silverlight is not a Video player, Microsoft Silverlight is a free web-browser plug-in that enables interactive media experiences, rich business applications and immersive mobile apps.

I suggest you can try the following steps to check your Silverlight out-of-browser launcher is working well.

1: How to clean a corrupted Silverlight installation and then reinstall Silverlight

    2: Install  latest Silverlight plugin

3: Visit the following link and launch demo to check it is ok.
