IoT MxChip DevKit RRS feed

  • Question

  • Received the Microsoft email today titled "MSDN Build and learn IoT with Azure and Visual Studio Code", which says

"Developing with IoT on Azure has never been easier! Sign up for a free IoT MxChip DevKit and start simplifying your processes."

When I click the "Sign up for your IOT DevKit", it takes me to a web page with a link "Get a Kit".  That link shows a price of $39.

I am not seeing the free option mentioned in the email, so thought I would ask here.  Was the email referring to HW or SW ?

    Thanks!

  • Hello Chris Norris,

    >>>When I click the "Sign up for your IOT DevKit", it takes me to a web page with a link "Get a Kit".  That link shows a price of $39.

This price is for hardware, a board and a power cable like showed in the link of "Get a Kit".

How to development on this hardware with Azure IoT Service you can get started here. If you encounter any problem when using Azure IoT Service you can ask question at Azure IoT Hub forum.

This forum is for discussions of apps and driver development on versions of Windows that run on a variety of development boards like Raspberry Pi 2 and MinnowBoard MAX for developing smart, connected devices and IoT solutions.

Since your issue is Azure IoT related I'll move it to Azure IoT Hub forum for more professional support.

    Best regards,

    Rita

  • Hi Chris,

We are the team behind the DevKit. We couldn't recall that we have sent such message out. Do you mind let us know what exact content of it and what's the email sent you this email?

  • Here's the email that was sent by microsoft@e-mail.microsoft.com on May 28, which said I could sign up for a free IoT MxChip DevKit and enter a contest.  On my first read of the email, it looked like I could sign up and get the board sent over.  Being an embedded HW/FW guy, I like to tinker.  When I clicked the email link, didn't see any signup option.

After the HTML below, I have included the header and plaintext part, sanitized with my personal info removed:
