VS Enterprise 2017 - Webtest form post parameter corruption of HIDDEN values RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a particular script that I have to keep re-recording because the form post parameter HIDDEN values keep duplicating/getting corrupted. It's a longer script than the others and it is very time consuming to re-record and build. Has anyone ever come across this? Is there a fix?

    Here's a sample of what is happening:

    {{$HIDDEN1.ctl{{$HIDDEN1.ctl00$ctl00$MainContent$MainContent$OrderPricingControl$OutsideDoctor_ID}}{{$HIDDEN1.ctl00$ctl00$MainContent$MainContent$OrderPricingControl$OutsideDoctor_ID}}_ctl{{$HIDDEN1.ctl00$ctl00$MainContent$MainContent$OrderPricingControl$OutsideDoctor_ID}}{{$HIDDEN1.ctl00$ctl00$MainContent$MainContent$OrderPricingControl$OutsideDoctor_ID}}_SkinToolTip_ClientState}}

  • Hi Casey Barton,

    Sorry for delay in reply.

    As far as I know, these messages mean that there is a parameter needed on this page which should have been extracted in a previous request. Please check if any of the requests before the failed one gets Extraction rules? If not, try to check Tools -> Options -> Web Performance Test Tools -> Web Test -> General and make sure that ‘Automatically detect dynamic parameters’ is checked.

    If this issue still persists, could you please provide us with more information about error messages, so that we could help you better.

    Any feedback will be expected.

    Best Regards,

    Tianyu

  • Thank you for the response but I not must have been clear enough about my problem. The parameter is picked up and recorded fine. It is a single parameter between the curly braces like this when recorded:

    {{$HIDDEN1.ctl00$ctl00$MainContent$MainContent$OrderPricingControl$OutsideDoctor_ID}}

    I can run the script fine for the day but the next time I launch Visual Studio the HIDDEN values have duplicated and embedded themselves together like in my example above. It now looks like this and has become unusable:

    {{$HIDDEN1.ctl{{$HIDDEN1.ctl00$ctl00$MainContent$MainContent$OrderPricingControl$OutsideDoctor_ID}}{{$HIDDEN1.ctl00$ctl00$MainContent$MainContent$OrderPricingControl$OutsideDoctor_ID}}_ctl{{$HIDDEN1.ctl00$ctl00$MainContent$MainContent$OrderPricingControl$OutsideDoctor_ID}}{{$HIDDEN1.ctl00$ctl00$MainContent$MainContent$OrderPricingControl$OutsideDoctor_ID}}_SkinToolTip_ClientState}}

    Has anyone ever come across this behavior? I have to re-record my script every time this happens.
