  • Hi All ,

This is the Question,  On AlwaysON , Can i configure Always on With

    1) Windows Cluster created

    2) Two standalone Sql servers 2014 enterprise

    3)  Add these machines to Windows Cluster

So both the machines are in cluster ..

Now will the Always ON Work  or it needs Active /Passive nodes and  Always  On Machine on Cluster ..

Please advice , Sorry May be my  question is  silly .

  • Check this.

You can configure Always ON in 2 scenario's:

    1.Cluster(Active/Passive) (Not support Automatic failover)
    2.Standalone servers(Support Automatic failover)

1.Cluster (Active/Passive) Env Servers: (This is not for automatic failover and it's manual failover)
2.Standalone Servers: (This is automatic failover Node1 to Node2 (3rd node also required for automatic failover) and manual failover(node1/node2 required) )
