Visual c++ in general RRS feed

  • Question

  • So I am reading this book by Frank D. Luna on 3D Game Programming with directx 11, so I did what I read, and I went to c++ 2010 version and

    and then I added june 2010 directx to the include , executable, and libaries.

    C:\Program Files %28x86%29\Microsoft DirectX SDK %28June 2010%29\Utilities\bin\x64;$(ExecutablePath)

    C:\Program Files %28x86%29\Microsoft DirectX SDK %28June 2010%29\Include;$(IncludePath)

    C:\Program Files %28x86%29\Microsoft DirectX SDK %28June 2010%29\Lib\x86;$(LibraryPath)

    but then I got over 100 errors, so I installed 2013 and then I got the same errors, so I gave up on it,

    and installed 2015 version and started a new project:

    #include <iostream>
    using namespace std;

    int main() {
    cout << "Hello";
    return 0;

    but I got this error :

    Cannot run RC.exe

    so I googled this and found out that I had to go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.1\bin\x64

    and copy rc.exe and rc.dll to my visual studio 2012, but now I get this error:

    Severity Code Description Project File Line
    Error LNK1158 cannot run 'E:\C\VC\bin\rc.exe' ConsoleApplication1 c:\Users\Dani\documents\visual studio 2015\Projects\ConsoleApplication1\ConsoleApplication1\LINK 1

    Visual studio is named "C" to me.

    Please Help, I cant use 2013, 2010 ,2008 or 2012 or 2015, I have also tried to uninstall everything that has todo with visual studio

  • Hi xFiolet,

    Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.

    Since this forum is discuss Visual Studio WPF/SL Designer, Visual Studio Guidance Automation Toolkit, Developer Documentation and Help System, and Visual Studio Editor.

    As you said the issue, I think that it is more related to the 3D Game Programming with directx 11. So I suggest you could post this issue directly to the DirectX 11 (Direct3D 11, Direct2D, and DirectWrite) forum: for better respond. Thanks for your understanding!
