Can't delete directory due to nonexistent Enterprise application RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there,

I am trying to delete a test Azure AD directory and am blocked by the deletion page telling me I need to delete all enterprise apps, even though I already did.
I also tried searching for hidden apps and using a modified version of https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/ec0c7a59-a2a7-4107-bad2-e7dcd4764700/unable-to-delete-azure-active-directory-saying-that-there-are-enterprise-applications-while-that?forum=WindowsAzureAD (made it use AzADServicePrincipal commands) but it didn't work either.

If that helps, the status icon was a checkmark icon and turned to a warning sign after the other services completed checking.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Hello ThomasCyclone,

Are you still experiencing this issue? So when you go into the enterprise applications blade you don't see any applications there?

Can you try using the newest up to date powershell library?

This library can be found here : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/azure/active-directory/install-adv2?view=azureadps-2.0

Once you've installed and logged into the Azure-AD powershell, try utilizing the command

       [-All <Boolean>]
       [-Top <Int32>]
       [-Filter <String>]

    Reference: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/azuread/Get-AzureADServicePrincipal?view=azureadps-2.0

And let us know if you can see it there. Can you also make sure you're in the correct tenant?

If you're able to see it, please utilize the delete command here : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/azuread/Remove-AzureADServicePrincipal?view=azureadps-2.0

If you're still having an issue here, please email AzCommunity[at]microsoft[dot]com and I can enable a one time free support ticket. Please provide your Azure Subscription GUID and a reference to this thread. And hopefully we can get you on the right path again soon.

    Please see : https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/mschray/2016/03/18/getting-your-azure-subscription-guid-new-portal/

On how to get a subscription GUID.

  • Hello Frank,

Thanks for the answer, however I do not have any subscription linked to my Azure account as it was only for testing AD with the free tier.

I don't think I can add a new one on this directory as the region is now incorrect (UK instead of Norway, we moved).

Can I still send an email or should I add a subscription another way without a credit card, then?

  • You will need a subscription in order to get a free support ticket enabled.

In addition to that, were you able to utilize the Get-AzureADServicePrincipal powershell cmdlet? The service principal should show after running the get-azureadserviceprincipal.

Then delete the service principal utilizing the respective delete powershell cmdlet.

  • Hi Frank,

I'll find a solution to get a subscription then.

I did try the Powershell commands but all service principals displayed couldn't be deleted due to an error saying they were "Microsoft internal".

  • Hello,

I see, so it's most likely an issue with the fact that you have a free trial and not a subscription yet. Instructions on how to upgrade the free account can be found here : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/billing/billing-upgrade-azure-subscription

Once you have a subscription, we can get a support ticket filed to remove the item if you still cannot remove it yourself.

Please remember to mark a response as answered if you're question has been answered,
