VS 2012 XAML Designer Crash RRS feed

  • Question

  • A version of this problem has been resolved back in 2016.  The error I'm receiving is the same but there is no NumberComboBox being used in the project.

The project loaded fine until late-September when we experienced a severe server crash.  I had to reload this project from backup and had to have my computer rebuilt.  Telerik was reloaded.  I suspect my problem is because Telerik was reloaded and the versions are not the same as back in September.  I don't know how to resolve this issue.

The project will build successfully and will run within Visual Studio.  But the xaml does not display.  Any help or suggestions are appreciated.  Thanks.

Edited to add:  tried an earlier version of telerik controls.  Same problem

    Error received:

  • Hi em_rdh,

    Sorry for delay in reply.

Did you use latest version of visual studio 2012? You could download and install visual studio 2012 update 5, then re-open this project.

In addition, I'm sorry that we cannot use this 3rd plugins which needs subscription, to reproduce this issue on my side, so we recommend you could also go to stack overflow with Telerik tag , more community members which use it would also help you, thank you for understanding.

    Hope it could help you.

    Best Regards,

    Dylan

  • Hi em_rdh,

    Welcome to MSDN forum.

    >>I suspect my problem is because Telerik was reloaded and the versions are not the same as back in September.

From the thread in telerick forum, your account needs full license and also to be assigned a license, and then you could download previous version following below steps:

    1. Choose the product from your "Products and Subscriptions" menu.
    2. From there choose "Download installer and other resources'.
    3. On the appropriate product, choose the "Previous Versions" option.

BTW, since this issue is more related to 3rd plugin, we recommend you could redirect to telerick forum to get dedicated forum.

    Thank you for understanding.

    Best Regards,

    Dylan

  • Thanks for your reply.  I've downloaded previous versions of the telerik controls but still have the same problem.

A variety of this problem has been posted many times.  But I haven't found a post like my situation yet.  I was hoping that someone else had the same situation and was able to recover from it.

  • Hi em_rdh,

    Thanks for feedback.

Maybe you could have a try to add a invisible RadComboBox with "NumericComboBox" in your xmal.

Not sure if this method could work but it might be worthy trying if it's possible for you.

    Cheers,

    Dylan

  • I don't believe NumberComboBox or NumericComboBox are settings that can be accessed.  They may be internal settings but not available to the developer.  Someone please correct me if I'm wrong about this.

Vague errors like this are frustrating.  The only clue I have is that the error is pointing to a Style that I have set for RadComboBoxes.  I'm now using the same Telerik controls version as before the server crash.  I've deleted and reentered the style.

I guess the next thing is to reinstall Visual Studio.
