Upgrate sharepoint ASP.net application to sharepoint 2019 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We have Sharepoint site built using ASP.net which is a custom site. Current sharepoint version is sharepoint 2010. Now we need to upgrate it to sharepoint 2019. We will be using ShareGate to migrate content to sharepoint 2019. We would like to know our sharepoint ASP.net site which is built using visual studio 2010, will successfully run on sharepoint 2019 without modifying solution.

    Thanks,

    Harsh

  • Sharepoint 2010 and Sharepoint 2019 use different .Net framework versions:

SP2010: .Net 3.5 - see Hardware and software requirements (SharePoint Server 2010)

SP2019: .Net 4.7.2 - see Hardware and software requirements for SharePoint Server 2019

So you will need to rebuild your ASP.Net application against .Net 4.7.2 first.

  • Hi Harsh,

As sadomovalex said, it’s necessary to install Visual Studio 2017 or later version to rebuild the customized site for SharePoint server 2019.
