Check if user belongs to specific sharepoint group using designer workflow RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am developing a SharePoint 2010 Designer workflow [Reusable workflow].

Can I check if the workflow initiator belongs to specific SharePoint group. Do we have any action/activity for this?

I have some business logic that needs to be executed if user initiating the workflow belongs to specific SharePoint group.

Any suggestions/pointers on this would be highly appreciated.

  • Hi Ketan,

Yes, there is OOB action used to check if a user belongs to specific SharePoint Group: Is User a member of a sharepoint group. It is located under Condition drop down in SharePoint Designer.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Emir

  • Where is this command? I cannot find it in SPD 2013 even if the workflow is a 2010-type

  • You must install the solution SPDActivities to have this option.

There's a trick in SP 2013 do install, but I'm not sure if it will work.

  • You will not find this command in 2013 workflow. You need to make REST call to verify if user is part of that group or not.

  • I don't see "Is User a member of a sharepoint group" it in SPD 2010. Could it be called something else?
