Merging Visual Studio 2017 SSRS project and its TargetServer... properties in Team Foundation Server RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Everyone,

First, please accept my apologies if I am posting a question in the incorrect forum.  I hope I have a pretty straightforward question but I can not find many answers in the internet how to get a solution for it.  Basically, we have VS 2017 SSRS projects in three environments Dev/Test/Prod connected to source control in the TFS.  When we are done with Dev, we merge a Dev branch  to Test. Next , what happens is that SSRS projects' TargetServerURL...proprieties and  datasets connection strings from Dev are merged to Test which is not correct since Test environment is on the different server obviously.  I know I could do a custom merge and exclude things from being merged from Dev but it seems like waste of my time.

Having said, that is there an automated way to handle those server connection strings , server names when we merge from one branch to another in TFS?

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

  • Hi donnie100,

    Sorry for delay in reply.

For your requirement, I'm sorry that it seems that it is beyond our support. Since tfs forum has locked, we suggest you could go to stackoverflow with tfs tag, many tfs specialists and community members will provide better support for you there.

    Thank you for understanding.

    Best Regards,

    Dylan
