Tasks list InfoPath form not working RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

We have migrated Tasks list from SharePoint 2010 On Premise to Office 365 using Sharegate tool. This tasks list has customized task forms (InfoPath) which were associated with Approval Process in SharePoint designer workflows.

After migration of Tasks list and workflows, the tasks content types are created and InfoPath form xsn files are migrated to Office 365 SharePoint.

The problem we are facing is that, when we open the task item, SharePoint is displaying the task in out of the box task form and not in InfoPath form.

What do we need to resolve this?

    Thank you!

  • Hi SuPar,

Please use SharePoint Designer open your sites, navigate to your tasks list-> fomrs. Could you see the three the form newifs.aspx, editifs.aspx and displayifs.aspx? Like the below picture:

If they are in your forms, you could try to set them as default form. Or you could click the button "Customize in Infopath" in the list ribbon and publish the form. Thus SharePoint would display the Infopath form.

If you could not see the forms, the InfoPath form xsn files may not in your task list. You have to rebuild the form for the list.

    Best Regards,

    Michael Han

  • Hi Michael,

Actually these InfoPath task forms are associated with Approval Process and are visible in Forms section on SP Designer workflow page.

I even tried to open the form in InfoPath Designer 2013 and published them again. But when clicking on the task, it still shows me the out of the box display form.

    Thank you!

  • Hi SuPar,

You have misunderstood me. Sorry for not making it clear. You need to check the forms of the task list instead of the workflow.

Please click Lists and Libraries in the navigation, choose the task list and click in.

Check the forms section, and click in.

It should have six form pages if you have the form. Try to set the newifs.aspx, editifs.aspx and displayifs.aspx as default.

To customize the list in InfoPath:

  • Hi Michael,

    Thank you for details!

I have these forms associated with workflow and content types specifically. These are not customized list forms.

So in the same Tasks list, each task item based on the task content type, opens a different InfoPath task form.

Since multiple workflows are associated with single Tasks list, different InfoPath forms should open based on their content type. We have 10 approval processes in 2 workflows. So there are 10 different forms for each approval process. E.g. in the image below has 4 forms are from one of the 2 workflows.

So the problem is whatever item I try to open, the item is displayed in out of the box display form.

    Any suggestion/direction is welcome.

    Thank you!
