OutPut Caching Sharepoint 2013 - Caching happens intermittently. RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have configured Output caching on a Publishing SharePoint 2013 site with an extranet profile for authenticated users having VaryByCustom parameter as "Browser" and VaryByUserRights  checked. We have not enabled it for writers. We are having issues with set of users who have Read access to the site but have "Full Control" on Images library have been able to see the cached pages with personalized data of others.

When we enabled the "debug cache information" we see "8 Output cache not used.  Reason: User can view an unpublished version of the current page." for them. This is because they have "Full Control" on one of the library in the site. But we are not sure how output cache worked for them in a certain time and were able to see cached pages and its not happening now.

Is there a way to debug caching other than Performance Monitor?

  • Hi Divya Senthil,

This message “8 Output cache not used.  Reason: User can view an unpublished version of the current page.” will come up if the current user (anonymous or authenticated) has edit access or can view draft versions anywhere in the site collection.

And there is no way to debug caching other than Performance Monitor.

  • Hi Sara,

Yes, we see that the users are having "Full Control" on one of the library in the site so it answers why they are seeing the debug message but at the same time we haven't enabled the caching for writer's but still they have viewed the cached version of the page which is weird.
