Excel Ribbon xml shortcut conflicts when it shouldn't

    Question

  • Let me know if cross site posting is bad form, but was advised to post here for possible response, but still want original reference in original posted forum.

At https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/exceldna/cvXtsf4fGyg I posted a sample where my ribbon was generating a Y2 shortcut when I think it should only generate a Y (without a conflict).  There is no Y1 present (indicating a conflict), only Y2.

    Any suggestions are appreciated.

  • Hello Terry,

If the keytip doesn't work or be changed by Office, it indicates there is a conflict . I think it is impossible to assign "Y" as a keytip for any control although it seems that there is no conflict but Office considers "Y" is unusable.

    Regards,

    Celeste

  • Y, Y1, Y2 etc are default accelerators applied to custom ribbon controls which have not been given a KeyTip.

I know, it doesn't quite explain why you can't assign Y if no others, or why yours is not reapplied as Y1 perhaps if Y is reserved, but suggest don't use Y!
