Full Control user can't edit site pages anymore

    Question

  • I have "full control" permission on a SharePoint 2010 site, and I cannot edit pages in SharePoint Designer or via browser. I used to be able to do so without problem, but now I get the  "You do not have permission to do this operation" error when I try to change anything in SD, and I don't even get the option to edit online anymore.

The problem seemed to start when I activated the "SharePoint Server Publishing" feature, but deactivating it did not fix the issue. The problem has affected other site users in the same way. Right now no one is able to edit pages on the site anymore.

Thank you in advance for any help, I really appreciate it.

  • Hello,

Other places where you need to verify is:

    1. Permission level and options selected in Full Control (Client integration features)

    2. Check if the pages are published or not from the pages library.

  • You can have Full Control to a site but still not have Full Control of a library in that site. Ask your site collection administrator to check the Pages library (or the library where you are have the problem) to see if the library has broken inheritance / unique permissions.
