Slow downloads from other regions

    Întrebare

  • Hi,

I was trying to download a200GB file hosted in file share in Ireland location downloading in India. But it is too slow like 2MB taking approximately 1 day. Is the any way to increase the download speed?

BTW my internet speed my ISP allocated is 125MB and i can download other items at the speed of 10MB.

    Thanks

    Guru

  • Could you elaborate the scenario? Are you using Storage explorer /AZ copy / PowerShell to download the files?

To transfer large numbers of files, we recommend that you use AZ Copy (for Windows; in preview for Linux and UNIX) or Azure PowerShell. These tools have been optimized for network transfer.

Did you try to upload a file directly from the portal? If you got full speed over http, it means something wrong with SMB, could be your ISP throttling this port.

You should investigate if something is wrong on the client side or on the network. If you enable Azure Storage logging, you can compare Server latency and E2E latency to see whether File service was at fault or client/network. For more information on this, Refer : Monitor, diagnose, and troubleshoot Microsoft Azure Storage.
