power bi as data source for ssrs reports RRS feed

  • Question

  • how to use connection string on  ssrs reports
    to connect  power bi on cloud as data source in my app?

    *  its work in power bi report server with report builder for power bi
    *  by exporting report to power bi
    *but  not from report server config or c# code

    all my reports is in my apps not on power bi platform
    in this way  i will use one data source for 2 app  power bi and  my ssrs appliction

    it  will work for customer that have sql express edition

  • tank's for your answer >> i have an error

    i tried to config this connection string  in report server 2017 ( not  ssrs  power bi  )

    Data Source =

    "powerbi://api.powerbi.com/v1.0/7cf3f70b-2168-40c4-a237-06e1a78d52cd/WorkspaceName"  ;
    Initial Catalog="ReportName"

    ( replacing  MyOrg to tenet id )

    ( for the workspace and Catalog i used the name not  the  id

    the error

    The property value containing the '"' character (at index 13 in the connection string) must be enclosed in quotation marks.

    >>  * i have quotation marks. in  the data source and the catalog as well !

    Data Source="powerbi://api.powerbi.com/v1.0/myorg/MyWorkspaceName";Initial Catalog="MyRepo

  • Hi Ben,

    From your last post, did you resolved the issue?

    If not, could you clarify your last post, which is a little confusing?

    Regards,

    Lukas

  • hi  again

    i m getting an error connection when i tried to use the ConnString

    Data Source="powerbi://api.powerbi.com/v1.0/myorg/MyWorkspaceName";Initial Catalog="MyReport"

    from ssrs 2017 opening report builder > set data source for  analysis service connection string

    1. i changed myorg to tenet id from azure

    2. WorkSpace name or id i tried 2 options  >> from power bi

    3. MyReport the id from power bi ( also tried  by name )

    this the ConnactionString

    Data Source="powerbi://api.powerbi.com/v1.0/7cf3f70b-2168-40c4-a237-06e1a78d52cd/35c35e68-335c-4d32-92a5-c2ba75ec57a6" ;

    Initial Catalog="5718795c-37a6-47cc-8fed-81ec7b815fc6"

    And that's the error

    The 'Initial Catalog' property name is not formatted correctly.
