  • What is the best protocol to handle specific resources who are not required to submit a timesheet? Any suggestions?

  • Hi Patti,

    We would need more information. Usually we do recommend to force actuals from timesheet, which prevent PM to manually enter actuals directly in the project plans. Doing so, you always align timesheets and operational activities (project plans).

    So we would need to understand why some resources doesn't need to do timesheets. And also what are your objectives.

    Are they subcontractors with a fixed priced mission? Do you use timesheets to manage costs? Are they resources working on support activities and not projects?

    You could replace them by generic resources, you could remove work for them, you could simply manage them in terms of costs, you could anyway ask them to do timesheets, etc...

    That being said and even if we can find some workarounds, MS Project philosophy is : "if the organization does timesheet, all resources must do timesheets".
