sharepoint online rss feed RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there,

    completely new with sharepoint.

One of the users asked me to create a sharepoint site for him where should be able to place information for machinist.

RSS feed is one of the component what should be on the page.

With a RSS called RdZ RSSreader this should be easy. The thing is that I get the error message: Reason: RSS at the address "http://rss.cnn.com/rss/edition_europe.rss" could not be fetched. Please check the RSS Feed Url or contact the RSS Feed provider.

    Within Outlook it works fine.

Is this because Office365 is part of azure and the traffic for the RSS is been blocked.

It must be somthing simple but canyt find it.

    Kind regards.

    Murat

  • Hi, Murat,

I have the same issue with the RdZ RSSreader in my tenant, it does not work with any RSS. We are investigating the possible reason. As it is a 3rd Party app, i also recommend you to use the built-in RSS viewer web part to show RSS feed in your page.  It works perfect in my end. About how to use the web part, please check:https://support.office.com/en-us/article/add-rss-feeds-from-external-sites-to-your-site-52c26fb9-f1e7-44b7-b684-dea7b5788590

  • I agree with you.

You can try a simple rss link first to check if it works.

  • Hi Jerry,

    Thanks bro :)

Wan't ware there was a buildin RSS option.

I thought it could be an Azure thing and  extra steps needed for making the RSSreader working

however I will do it like you explained to me.

Will be back if its not working :)

Take care of your self and beloved ones.

    Thanks again.

  • Hi Jerry,

Yes I got my the RSS feed within the site.

But a non IT colleague of changed his mind and want a wsrp viewer on his presentation screens.

Unfortunately this is not supported in Sharepoint online and so I have to such another way to help him with his presentation screens.

On these screens there should be presented some company and world news. Update of the company news is no issue it was more that rssfeed and now WSRP :@

It keeps me from the street :)

    Thanks nice guy.

Be good for your self and the world.
