added listitemID as a managed property receiving error message from webpage "unable to render the data. ..." RRS feed

  • Question

  • We needed the ability to search on the ListItemID so followed the procedure of adding the ListItemID as a managed property. After doing that some search terms, but not all, resulted in a message from webpage "Unable to render the data. If the problem persists contact your web administrator" Correlation ID ....

Reset the index, reran a crawl and the problem persists.

I have since removed ListItemID as a managed property and the error has gone away.   How can I add the ListItemID as a searhable value without having this error message occur?

  • Hi,

What is version of your SharePoint, SharePoint 2010 or 2013?

SharePoint 2013 or later version has a managed property "ListItemId" and a Crawled Property "ows_ListItemId" mapped to it. Make the "ListItemId" searchable, so that users can search by item id using "ListItemId". However, SharePoint 2010 does not have "ows_ListItemId" and "ListItemId".

If you want to search by the item id in SharePoint 2010, you need to create an additional column (a site column or a list column) into the lists/libraries. Using code such as powershell to set this column value to the item id for each item. Search items by managed property of this column.

Demo about how to update items using powershell:

Note: In SharePoint, only site columns that contain values will automatically become managed properties when they are crawled. If you are using list columns, you need to map the crawled property of this column to the an existing managed property and perform a full crawl.

    Best Regards,

    Linda
