Search in share point issue RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    •  I  created a web application and site collection .
    •  I  created a new custom List called "Test List".
    •  I added new two items in the list "SharePoint" & "Microsoft" in filed Title.
    •  I created Visual web  that reads data from "Test List" and bind data in grid view.
    •  I created  a page "Testpage.aspx" and I added the web part on this page.
    •  I configured sharepoint search and I "Start Full Crawel
    •  When I search by word "SharePoint"  , The sharepoint result displays "AllItems.aspx & DisForm.aspx?ID=1" . And it didn't display "TestPage.aspx".
    • I create a new crawl rule :

             -  Path :  http://myHostName:9090/*

             - I check the following check boxes "<label for="ctl00_PlaceHolderMain_editCrawlRuleControl_includeComplexUrlsCheckBox">Crawl complex URLs (URLs that contain a question mark - ?)</label>" &

                "<label for="ctl00_PlaceHolderMain_editCrawlRuleControl_crawlAsHttpCheckBox">Crawl SharePoint content as http pages</label>"

    • I "Start Full Crawel" again , but the same result .

So Why the TestPage.aspx not be displayed on search result ?

         Thanks

  • There is no way to configure SharePoint to do that.  If you think about it, the permutations required in the crawl would be prohibitive in terms of performance.

  • By default SharePoint only crawls "Static" content on a page.  To crawl and return a page based on content displayed in a web part SharePoint would need to crawl every possible version of the page to get all the dynamic content.  The AllItems.aspx and Dispform.aspx pages you are getting point to the actual list item that you are displaying in the web part on the Testpage.aspx.  That's the normal behavior.

  • Hi,

In which library your page is stored. Please check the Search settings of library in which you have added the page.

If it is publishing site, make sure that your page is published.

From "Search Administration" verify the crawl logs.
