How to show what field changed in a list item?

Question
-
Hello Everyone,
I work in a restricted environment so I cannot show my list. I have a client who has a list that has a ton fields. She wants to be able open a list item and see exactly what fields were edited by a previous user. She requested the fields be highlighted so she can know what fields changed. But even a text field at the bottom that shows what change would suffice. Right now SharePoint has the functionality to show what list item was modified but not the show what fields in the list item were modified. Is there some kind of work around for this? I am slightly familiar with JQuery and Javascript so I can implement if that is required. But I would like some sort of workflow solution.

Hi TechNewbieGal,
You can enable the versioning on your List to track the updates on the List item.
Navigate to List Settings > Versioning settings -> Item Version
History->choose "Yes" for "Create a version each time you edit an item in this list".Once You enabled the version, then you can view an earlier version to track the updates on the List item.
Enable and configure versioning for a list or library for your reference:
