Project Servers Migration to PS 2013 from PS 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am working on test environment about migrating PS 2010 to PS 2013, restored project server databases to SQL instance of PS 2013 as mentioned in the link http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg502590(v=office.15).aspx. PWA we can access successfully with some errors. However I am facing issues in terms of cubes. I am not familiar how cube works after migration or how it supposed to work.  Do I need to build new Cube as it is completely new setup? When I notice in the destination SharePoint server I see already cubes were built with source sql server after migration. which is strange for me. I followed TechNet links but not where mentioned about migration of cubes. Please help me.

    Thanks, Ram Ch

  • Hi Ram,

Yes, you will need to modify the OLAP cube build.  The value of the OLAP server is copied from your 2010 as is the name of the OLAP DB.

We presume that you have new SQL and AS servers, so use the new server values.

The overall requirements for OLAP in 2010 and 2013 are essentially the same, just depends on the version of SQL Server and AS you are using, make sure you have the correct library versions so they can communicate all around (Project to AS, AS to SQL).  You will need to add users to the role after you build your new OLAP DB.

    See this: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj943761(v=office.15).aspx

    Hope that helps,
