  • Question

  • If customer 1, customer 2 and customer 3 should never have access to each others sites, and if they should not even know the others exist, does it make a difference if each customer site is its own "Site Collection" versus a main site with each customer having a subsite?

    Regards,
    Terry

  • If they don't have access to each other's sites it should be ok to put them under a central site collection, but if they are seperate they might as well each have separate site collections.

What is the advantage of having them share one?

  • I was leaning toward each having their own site collection.  But before I created the structure I wanted to ask if there were advantages or disadvantages one way versus the other.

With Site Collections - Can I limit the search results to individual collection?  Or would I need to go even farther and create a seperate web app for each customer?  I guess what I'm saying is that I wouldn't want the search results of customer 1 to show customer 2 info.

  • You've now moved from an Admin question to a search question.

There's a SharePoint - Search forum for those questions !

Please post this question there (I can move an entire thread but not a single item in a thread). Search scopes should enable you to limit search results but the specialists there will know about this specific case.
