How to change the name of the link of subsite in sharepoint

Question

I have a subsite inside the intranet, it's name School, so my link is http://intranet/school/. How can I change it to be http://Intermediate-school/ ? without intranet?
I want the link to be easy for using in sharepoint and to be easy to remember for the users.

What is the easiest way to do that?

I don't think you can do this without alternate access mapping settings.

Hi, Gulnar78,

Even using AAM, we can only add a new mapping for the web application URL, in other words, we can get http://Intermediate/school/ but not http://Intermediate-school/. The only way I can think of, will be creating a new web application with the URL http://Intermediate-school/, then backup the original site collection, remove it, restore it as the root site collection of the newly created web application.
